Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has described Thursday’s 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe as the most important game of his team.

Bafana Bafana come up against the Zimbabwe Warriors at the FNB Stadium in Nasrec, Johannesburg, at 21h00.

“I think that we are in front of very important games, last two games of the qualifiers. From the last two games, this is the most important,” the Belgian said.

The former Cameroon national team coach added that failure to beat Zimbabwe will put Bafana Bafana under severe pressure going to their last qualifier against Ghana’s Black Stars away in Cape Coast on Sunday (21h00), especially if the Ghanaianns defeat Ethiopia whom they meet at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto at 15h00 on Thursday.

“We all know that if we don’t win, we can be in trouble before we go to Ghana. Therefore, victory is very important,” Broos remarked.

“It’s a very tricky game. First of all, it’s Zimbabwe, the neighbours. You know how neighbours are, they like to win. I think Zimbabwe will like to win the game even if they know that they are out of the race.”

Even though he expects a tough match against the Zimbabweans, Broos is confident his boys will emerge victorious from the match.

“It will not be easy, that’s for sure. But I have confidence in my team. They proved it in the last four games in different ways. I know that the mentality is very good in the group. I know the atmosphere is very good,” Broos said.

Bafana top Group G with 10 points after winning three matches and drawing once. The Black Stars are second with nine points – three wins and a loss.
