Steve Barker is hoping for a turn around in Stellenbosch FC’s fortunes as they host Orlando Pirates at the Danie Craven Stadium in the Cape Winelands on Wednesday (17h30).

The Stellies coach wants his boys to win this match after drawing their last two home games. Stellies threw away a 2-0 lead last Saturday and drew 2-2 with AmaZulu at home.

“We have to focus on Orlando Pirates. We’ve drawn the previous two, it’s very important that we get maximum points against Pirates,” the former AmaZulu and University of Pretoria coach said.

Stellies have had a great start this season and are yet to lose a match. Currently, they are second on the DStv Premiership standings.

With the Buccaneers blowing hot and cold this season, Barker has refused to read too much into the Soweto side’s inconsistent performances.

“We all know Pirates have got individual quality in the team to win any footbalI game. We can’t look too much into their inconsistencies. We rather focus on what we need to be doing, being aware of the sort of challenges they can provide,” Barker said.

“I feel, for the first time in this league, we can win a game against Pirates. We feel confident that we can get maximum points.”
