They are facing troubles in as far as their league position is concerned as they are 15th on the DStv Premiership standings, but that has not stopped Chippa United players from dreaming about lifting the Nedbank Cup.
And their captain Frederic Nsabiyumva can’t wait to lead his team when they face Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila in the Nedbank Cup final at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein on Saturday evening (18h00).
“We are very good. We are looking forward to the Nedbank Cup final. Some of the players have never played in a cup final before. It’s our chance now to show what we can do, especially here in our club. We are looking forward to bringing this cup to the Eastern Cape,” Nsabiyumva said.
The Chilli Boys will take the field under the guidance of Serbian-born coach Vladislav Heric, who was appointed following Dan Malesela’s sacking. The Chilli Boys have had clean sheets in their three last matches, two of which were wins and the other one was a draw.
“It’s a special day on Saturday. To play in a final is something else. It’s special because most of the teams were knocked out,” the Burundian said.
“The new coach has been doing a lot in helping us. At this time of the season it’s very difficult when they bring in a new coach. We have to adapt as quickly as possible because there is no time. He brought confidence in us and changed the mentality of the players.”
