Mamelodi Sundowns goalminder Denis Onyango is grateful to everyone at the Brazilians after he walked away with the DStv Premiership Goalkeeper of the Season award on Sunday evening.
Onyango beat stiff competition from AmaZulu goalie Veli Mothwa and Sifiso Mlungwana from Lamontville Golden Arrows to land the award.
“I would like to thank first of all my teammates, the club, board members, the chairman and the goalkeeping department for helping me win this award. Of course, our beautiful supporters, we miss them. My family that has been behind me all the time. I would really like to thank God for the life He has given me and for protecting me throughout the season,” Onyango said.
The 36-year-old former Uganda national team captain, who represented his country 82 times, kept 15 clean sheets this past season.
This is the second time that Onyango has won the same award having done so at the end of the 2015/16 season.
