Matshidiso Mokebisi rues the day she declined an offer to challenge South African female lightweight champion Kholosa Ndobayini and opted for a fight against Nozipho Bell. 
Now the SA and International Boxing Federation (IBF) Intercontinental junior-lightweight fight has been postponed while Ndobayini’s title defence against Bonita van Jaarsveldt is going ahead at the Meropa Casino in Polokwane on Saturday, 25 September. 
“My fight against Nozipho has been postponed. That’s what my trainer Manny Fernandes told me on Tuesday,” Mokebisi said. 
“Initially, l was offered an opportunity to challenge Kholosa. But I decided to take the fight against Nozipho.”
Initially, Mokebisi’s fight against Bell was scheduled for Sunday, 3 October in Gqeberha. 
Kroonstad-born Mokebisi is a former SA female bantamweight champion and currently holds the national junior-featherweight title. She last fought when she stopped Van Jaarsveldt in June. 
Meanwhile, David Faas Productions boss David Faas has confirmed that Mokebisi’s fight against Bell has indeed been postponed. 
“Yes, we have postponed the tournament to the 21st of November. One of the reasons why we postponed is because this is going to be a pay-per-view tournament. We are busy finalising everything,” Faas said.
