The organisers of former world champion Zolani ‘Last Born’ Tete’s next fight are keeping the identity of his opponent as a closely-guarded affair.

Tete is set to make a return to the ring two years after his last fight when he faces an unnamed opponent from the Philippines on Saturday, 27 November.

The 33-year-old erstwhile International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-bantamweight and World Boxing Organisation (WBO) bantamweight titlist has not fought since losing to Filipino boxer Johnriel Casimero in November 2019.

InkSport has gathered that the tournament where Tete is going to fight is set to be promoted by South Africa’s busiest promotional outfit TLB Boxing Promotions in conjunction with Last Born Promotions.

InkSport has also gathered that TLB Boxing Promotions is negotiating with owners of three venues with Graceland Casino in Secunda, Mpumalanga, being the front runner to host the tournament. Negotiations with Meropa Casino in Polokwane are also on-going as well as another unnamed venue in Pretoria.

Joyce Kungwane’s TLB Promotions staged tournaments at the Graceland Casino in March this year and Meropa Casino last Friday.

The November tournament is where former lnternational Boxing Organisation (IBO) lightweight champion Xolisani ‘Nomeva’ Ndongeni will face Sonny Katiandagho from the Philippines.

Meanwhile, Sinethemba Kotana is also set to return to the ring and fight against Thabang Ramagole in the same tournament.

Kotana will go to the Ramagole fight after a points victory over Mogale Molefe from the North West in Johannesburg this past Sunday.
