South African female flyweight champion Simangele ‘Smash’ Hadebe is not going to fight against Revai Madondo from Zimbabwe anymore.
Instead, Hadebe is set to face Patience Mastara from Harare in Zimbabwe after Madondo decided against fighting her.
The 27-year-old Hadebe will trade leather with Mastara in an eight-round bout at the Gaborone International Convention Centre (GICC) in Botswana on Friday, 29 October.
Mastara has fought three times against South African boxers. She lost to former World Boxing Federation (WBF) junior-featherweight and featherweight titlist Unathi Myekeni in January 2008.
She also drew and lost to erstwhile WBF and South African bantamweight champion Bukiwe Nonina in September 2015 and August 2017 respectively.
This is going to be Hadebe’s fourth fight this year while Mastara will be fighting for the second time.
Hadebe defeated former SA bantamweight female champion Melissa Miller in March, then went on to beat Thema Zuma twice – in a non-title bout in August and in an SA title fight last month.
On the other hand, Mastara drew with her compatriot Kudakwashe Chiwandire in May this year. The 32-year-old Mastara has won five fights, lost seven and four draws.
