Gideon ‘Hardcore’ Buthelezi has endured some difficult times while waiting for an opportunity to return to the ring.

Buthelezi, who has not fought since his win over Mexican Adrian Jimenez in July 2019, clashes with unbeaten Manyo Plange from Ghana at the East London International Convention Centre on Sunday, 28 November.

The 35-year-old Buthelezi will be making his sixth defence of the International Boxing Organisation (IBO) junior-bantamweight crown.

“It’s nice that one is going to fight again. It’s been a very long time and it has not been easy. I have had four fights which were postponed,” the father of four from Boipatong said.

The 33-year-old Plange from Accra has registered 21 victories with 17 stoppages and a draw.

“I have heard that they have been building my opponent for better things. I also know that he is unbeaten,” Buthelezi said.

Buthelezi is currently working with former World Boxing Association (WBA) Africa junior-middleweight champion France Ramabolu as his trainer.
