Departed Matwabeng-born boxer Anthony Maloisane, who passed away aged 30 on Christmas day, is going to be buried in Kroonstad on Wednesday, 5 January.

Maloisane, a former African Boxing Union (ABU) SADC junior-lightweight champion, passed away after inhaling fumes following a braai.

Maloisane, who beat Romeo Makwakwa from Malawi to win the ABU belt in December 2020, last fought when he lost to Sibusiso Zingange at the Booysens Boxing Gym in Johannesburg in September.

He once challenged current South African junior-lightweight titlist Phila Mpontshane and lost in East London in October 2018.

Maloisane had a professional record of 14 wins with eight stoppages, six defeats and a draw.
