The first leg of the MTN8 semi-final between Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns ended in a 1-1 draw at the FNB Stadium in Nasrec, Johannesburg, on Saturday afternoon.

After a goalless first half where they were dominated by Sundowns, Chiefs broke the deadlock with Edson Castillo’s diving header from Ashley du Preez’s cross in the 61st minute. That was the 29-year-old Venezuelan’s third goal in all competitions.

Just as Amakhosi followers thought Chiefs had won, Sundowns defender Khuliso Mudau popped in to head home from Junior Mendieta’s cross in referee’s added time.

With the match having ended in a draw, the two sides are going to meet against in the second leg in three weeks’ time.
