Even though Chippa United managed to win and advance to the next round of the Nedbank Cup, co-coach Thabo September has admitted that they got worried when they were trailing against FC Ravens on Saturday.

The Chill Boys came from behind and defeated the Eastern Cape ABC Motsepe League side 2-1 after extra time. Ravens scored first through Samkelo Ngcungama and the Chilli Boys replied with goals from Thabo Makhele and Andile Mbenyane.

“We had 80-something minutes, we did believe that we were gonna score. But as the game went on, of course we started having a bit of worry. We did worry, especially when we were not getting a goal. But we were creating chances,” September said.

The former SuperSport United defender added: “I think it was a competitive game. We expected that from them. It was a good game. I think we played well, especially in the second half when we were one man short. We showed a bit of maturity in how we played.”
