The kind of confidence that Zolisa Batyi and his opponent Lucky Hobyane have makes it difficult for any boxing lover to miss their fight, which is set for the Orient Theatre in East London on Sunday.

Batyi will be attempting to make a successful second defence of his South African featherweight title, which he won after he stopped former champion Jeff Magagane in the second round in December 2022.

“This belt is going nowhere, it’s mine. There’s no way that I can be beaten at home,” Batyi said.

Hobyane, who was born in Malamulele, Limpopo, said: “I didn’t come here to play. I’m here to take the title, which belongs to Limpopo. I will take it back home.”

The tournament is going to have nine bouts instead of the initial 12 as opponents for Okuhle Mthi, Thapelo Bokwe and Siphosethu Mvula have pulled out of the show.
