South African female flyweight champion Simangele ‘Smash’ Hadebe will make a ring return after a year as she has a date with Mexican opponent Gabriela ‘La Bonita’ Sanchez Saavedra next month.
Hadebe is scheduled to clash against Sanchez in a vacant International Boxing Federation (IBF) Intercontinental flyweight title contest in Johannesburg on Friday, 24 May.
Hadebe, a winner of the 2023 Female Boxer of the Year at the South African Boxing Awards function, has not fought since her points victory over Thai opponent Phannaluk Kongsang in Johannesburg in May last year.
Meanwhile, Sanchez, a current World Boxing Council (WBC) Silver champion, is a former World Boxing Association (WBA) junior-flyweight and WBC flyweight title contender.
