News coming from Zambia is that former Chipolopolo captain and TP Mazembe midfielder Rainford Kalaba’s condition is improving.

The 37-year-old Kalaba, who spent 13 years playing for TP Mazembe in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), got admitted at the University Teaching Hospital in Lusaka following a car accident last Saturday.

“Mr Kalaba’s condition has greatly improved and stable. He took his first meal today (Friday), he’s fully conscious and able to talk. However, the medical team continues to provide close monitoring and care. We shall continue to update the general public on his condition,” University Teaching Hospital-Adult public relations officer Nzeba Chanda said on Friday evening.

Kalaba was in the all-conquering Chipolopolo squad, which won the Africa Cup of Nations trophy in 2012.
