With the waiting is over for former world champion Bukiwe ‘Anaconda’ Nonina as she will finally lace her gloves in a bout against Bernice Ferreira more than a year since her last fight, she believes that she will stop all the ‘noise’ made by her opponent.

The erstwhile World Boxing Federation (WBF) female bantamweight champion clashes with the unbeaten Ferreira at the WSB Arena in Paulshof, Johannesburg, on Saturday, 15 March.

“I’m very happy that I will be fighting again. They have been making a lot of noise since last year that’s why I took the fight because I want to shut their mouths. The noise has to be stopped,” Nonina said.

This is the Klerksdorp-born Nonina’s first fight since her draw with Chiedza Homakoma from Zimbabwe in September 2023 while Ferreira defeated Sinesipho Mve in June last year.

Nonina’s fight against Ferreira, who has won all her six fights with three of those wins being knockouts, is going to be one of the bouts in Aquila Boxing Promotions’ maiden tournament. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
