Landile ‘Man Down’ Ngxeke is not overly concerned about the postponement of next weekend’s boxing tournament, which was scheduled to take place at the Wild Coast Sun and Hotel in Bizana.

Instead of being held next weekend, the tournament set to be hosted by Fighters Club Boxing Promotion has since been rescheduled and will take place on Saturday, 9 May, at the same Eastern Cape venue.

And Sada-born Ngxeke, who is the reigning South African bantamweight champion, will feature in the tournament in a 10 rounds bout against Namibian boxer Jonas Mateus.

“I’ve got no problem with the postponement of the tournament. It’s not the first time that I have a fight postponed. Yes, at times one becomes downhearted after hearing that a fight has been postponed. But there’s nothing to worry about now. This postponement is going to give me more time to prepare for the fight,” Ngxeke remarked.

Ngxeke will be fighting for the first time since he was stopped in the seventh round by Mexican boxer Jose Salas Reyes during a vacant International Boxing Federation (IBF) bantamweight title contest in Mexico City, Mexico, in December last year. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
