Making his third trip to Japan, Lerato ‘Lights Out’ Dlamini and his entourage will leave South Africa for the Asian country on Wednesday ahead of next week’s fight against world rated Japanese southpaw Mikito Nakano.
Dlamini and Nakano are scheduled to trade blows in a 10 rounds bout at the Koruaken Hall in Tokyo on Wednesday, 6 May. In his last two visits to the Land of the Rising Sun, Dlamini registered a win and a loss in fights against Tomoki Kameda.
The Welkom-born Dlamini leaves for the Asian country together with his mentor Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan, cutman Bernie Pailman and assistant trainer Shaun Ness.
“We are leaving on Wednesday. Shaun Ness, a former South African champion and fighter of mine, is also going with us,” Nathan revealed.
Dlamini is rated fifth by the International Boxing Federation (IBF) and 12th in the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) ratings. The 30-year-old Nakano, on the other hand, is 10th in the World Boxing Council (WBC) ratings, 15th in the IBF and is fourth-placed in the WBO. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
