While most football followers are focusing on the on-going 2026 FIFA World Cup tournament co-hosted by the United States of America (USA), Mexico and Canada, Mamelodi Sundowns have started preparing for next season.

The Brazilians announced on Tuesday morning that they had signed midfielder Antonio van Wyk from Austrian club SV Ried.

“This is one of the biggest clubs on the continent. Club with a rich history, high standards and a winning culture. I’m excited for this journey. I’m proud to be Yellow,” Van Wyk said.

The 24-year-old Van Wyk, who was born in Cape Town, had been with the Austrian side since joining them from Cape Winelands club Stellenbosch FC in 2024.
