Spain won their second World Cup trophy after they defeated Argentina 1-0 in the final played at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, United States of America (USA), on Sunday evening, South African time.
With the match having gone to extra time, Ferran Torres netted for La Roja, who won their first World Cup trophy in South Africa in 2010, in the 106th minute following an assist from Nico Williams.
At the time the goal was scored, Argentina had already been reduced to 10 men following Enzo Fernández’s red card, which he received after he clattered into Cubarsi in referees added time.
La Roja dominated the proceedings forcing Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez to make numerous, which kept the South Americans in the match.
