Beaven Sibanda will on Thursday next week dust off the cobwebs and make a ring return when he laces his gloves to end more than 12 months of inactivity, which was caused by injury.

The 24-year-old Sibanda from Harare, Zimbabwe, will get back into action with a clash against Free Stater, Tshepo Mokhele, in a six rounds bout of a Golden Gloves Foundation Shaya Thursday tournament.

“I will be fighting against Tshepo Mokhele,” Sibanda, who is rated number four by the World Boxing (WBC), said.

Sibanda has not seen action since he recorded a fifth round stoppage victory over Filipino boxer, Richard Garde, in an IBF International minimumweight title contest at the Emperors Palace in Kempton Park, Ekurhuleni, in July last year.

He was sidelined after he snapped an Achilles while he was preparing for a fight against top rated Joey Canoy from the Philippines last October.

Meanwhile, Mokhele from Bethlehem will be fighting for the second time this year having lost to Siphelele Myeza via a split decision in Randfontein five months ago. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
