Orlando Pirates have joined AmaZulu in the semi-finals of the MTN8 after they beat Royal AM 2-1 in a quarter-final match at the Chatsworth Stadium in Durban on Saturday evening.
Vincent Pule and Thabiso Monyane netted for the Buccaneers while Thwihli Thwahla’s goal came from Shaun Mogaila.
The Buccaneers took an early lead when Pule netted in the third minute. Monyane doubled Pirates’ lead in the 55th minute.
Three minutes later, Mogaila cut the deficit when he beat Pirates goalkeeper Richard Ofori.
Both sides finished the match with 10 men after Pirates midfielder Goodman Mosele and Khethukuthula Ndlovu were red carded in added time.
