South African boxer Ludumo Lamati suffered his first career loss after his corner threw in the towel during his fight against Nick Ball from Liverpool in the United Kingdom at the SSE Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland, on Saturday evening.
Out to successfully defend his World Boxing Council (WBC) Silver featherweight title, Ball showed Lamati no respect as he attacked him at will.
Despite being shorter than Lamati, the 26-year-old Ball completely dominated the South African as the former International Boxing Organisation (IBO) junior-featherweight champion failed to use his reach advantage.
Seeing that the 31-year-old Lamati from Mdantsane was in trouble, his corner threw in the towel in the 12th round thus giving Ball his 11th stoppage win in 18 victories.
After losing by a technical knockout against Ball, Lamati, who is trained by former SA bantamweight champion Phumzile ‘Sweet Chocolate’ Matyhila, dropped to 21 wins, a loss and draw.
