Chippa United are going to face Orlando Pirates in the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup after they defeated TS Galaxy 2-0 at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit on Sunday afternoon.
The Buccaneers advanced to the last four following a 4-2 win over AmaZulu at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday evening.
On the other hand, Stellenbosch FC are going to welcome Mamelodi Sundowns in the other semi-final clash. Stellies defeated SuperSport United 4-0 and Sundowns beat the University of Pretoria 4-3 in the quarter-finals.
Back to the Chilli Boys’ clash against the Rockets, the Eastern Cape side scored through Bienvenu Eva Nga’s header in the 30th minute.
The Rockets missed a golden opportunity when Pogiso Sanoka’s penalty was saved by Chilli Boys goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali in the 88th minute. The home side received the penalty after Chilli Boys defender Sirgio Kammies had handled the ball inside the box.
Soon after that, Lebone Seema fouled Chilli Boys’ Aviwe Mqokozo inside the box and the referee pointed to the penalty spot. Roscoe Pietersen converted the penalty to make it 2-0 in the 90th minute.
Meanwhile, the Premier Soccer League (PSL) confirmed on Sunday that the Nedbank Cup final is going to be played at the Mbombela Stadium.
