Unbeaten Japanese boxer Naoya ‘The Monster’ Inoue survived a second round knockdown to stop American Ramon Cardenas in the eighth round at the T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, in the United States on Monday morning, South African time.
Following this victory, Inoue retained his World Boxing Council (WBC), International Boxing Federation (IBF) and World Boxing Organisation (WBO) junior-featherweight belts.
Cardenas shook the 32-year-old Inoue when he decked him with a left hook in the second round. But that knock down didn’t deter Inoue who then dropped Cardenas in the seventh round before the fight ended in the next round.
And Inoue has now stopped 27 of his victims while the 29-year-old Cardenas dropped to 26 wins with 14 knockouts ans two losses.
