After suffering his first loss in more than nine years, South African flyweight champion Jackson ‘M3’ Chauke will be out to make amends when he returns to the ring at Sun City in Rustenburg late next month.

Chauke is going to square up against Jayson ‘Striker’ Vayson from the Philippines on Saturday, 27 May. Vayson’s last fight was his first career loss, which was inflicted on him by Japanese boxer Yuri Akui Masago better known as Seigo Yuri Akui in Tokyo, Japan, in February this year.

The 24-year-old Vayson has registered 10 victories (five knockouts), a loss and one draw compared to the experienced Chauke’s record of 22 wins (15 stoppages), two defeats and two draws.

Tembisa-based Chauke lost to Phumelela Cafu by a split decision in a junior-bantamweight non-title bout at the Orient Theatre in East London last December. Before losing to Cafu, Chauke’s last loss was against the late Landile Sityata in an SA flyweight title contest in April 2013.

Chauke, who is going to celebrate his 38th birthday two days after his fight against Vayson, has since made four title defences against Eastern Cape boxers. He defeated Sihle Jelwana, Luyanda Ntwanambe and Sinethemba Kotana while drawing with Cafu.
