Mali’s Eagles moved to the quarter-finals of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament following a 2-1 win over Burkina Faso at the Amadou Gon Coulibaly Stadium in Korhogo, Ivory Coast, on Tuesday evening. 

The Mali Eagles took an early lead through an own goal by Edmond Tapsoba three minutes into the match. Two minutes after the break, the Eagles doubled the lead when Lassine Sinayoko made it 2-0 as he scored his third goal of the tournament in four matches. 

Bertrand Traore reduced the deficit for the Stallions from the penalty spot three minutes before the hour mark.
