Khangelani Jack’s departure for Gauteng will have no bearing on how current South Africa featherweight champion Zolisa Batyi trains or prepares for his fight.

This was said by Nxarhuni-born Batyi as Jack left East London to join the McAusland Boxing Gym in Gauteng last week. Batyi’s uncle Baba ‘Babes’ Makala, who also manages him, is going to train him going forward.

“Nothing has changed regarding my training and preparations for fights. My uncle is going to continue training me when I prepare for fights as it was the case before my last fight,” Batyi said.

Batyi is going to defend his SA title against Yamkela Phaliso in three months’ time. The two boxers were due to have fought last month, but Phaliso withdrew from the fight because of an injury.

Batyi then fought against Lucky Hobyane from Malamulele whom he stopped in the eighth round at the Orient Theatre in East London.
