Chippa United are going through very tough times as a second win of
the season continues to elude them in their quest to climb up the DStv
Premiership standings where they occupy 14th position.
And goalkeeper Ayanda Mtshali is determined to fight to make sure that
the Chilli Boys move out of the danger zone.
Mtshali is looking for an improved performance from the team when the
Chilli Boys clash with AmaZulu at King’s Park in Durban on Sunday.
‘‘We need to keep pushing during the AmaZulu match. We still believe
we can do it. We have not been bad, it’s just that we have not been
utilising our chances. We need a bit of luck. We are going to work
very hard and keep fighting for the badge of the team.’’ Mtshali said.
Mtshali made his Chilli Boys debut when the Port Elizabeth-based club
lost 1-0 to Orlando Pirates at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto on
Wednesday.
It looked like Mtshali was going to keep a clean sheet on debut until
Fortune Makaringe scored for the Buccaneers in the 86th minute. And
Mtshali has insisted that the Chilli Boys were not disgraced despite
losing the match.
‘‘I played my first game and it was not easy. I had to work very hard
when I joined Chippa four months back. It was unfortunate that we lost
in the dying stage of the game,’’ he said.
Meanwhile, Chilli Boys defensive midfielder Ryan Rae, who joined the
team from Highlands Park, is also looking for an improved performance
on Sunday.
‘‘AmaZulu are also struggling for points and wins. I think it’s going
to be a very interesting game for the two teams. We want to end the
year on a very, very good note,’’ Rae said.
‘‘We haven’t had the best results, we have been unlucky when it comes
to scoring goals. We are still very, very positive. Hopefully, we can
end 2020 on a good note for Chippa United.’’
