Mamelodi Sundowns went to Botswana and came back with a win in a CAF Champions League first leg match and the victory left their coach Manqoba Mngqithi with a good feeling.
Sundowns beat Jwaneng Galaxy 2-0 at the Lobatse Sports Complex, Lobatse, in Botswana on Tuesday courtesy of goals from former Highlands Park players Mothobi Mvala and Peter Shalulile.
‘‘The game was a tough one, we knew it was not gonna be easy. We played against these guys before. They gave a very good account of themselves. We brought a team that is stronger aerially as we knew the pitch was not gonna be okay. Overall, it was a good game. We played against a good team,’’ Mngqithi said.
‘‘Your home match is the most important one as you don’t want to concede at home. You concede at home and it becomes difficult for you on the road. It’s more than important for us to dominate in the Champions League.’’
The Brazilians will get a few days’ rest for Christmas before starting their preparations for a DStv Premiership encounter against Orlando Pirates at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria on Saturday, 02 January 2021.
Three days later, the reigning South African champions are going to host Galaxy in a CAF Champions League second leg match in Pretoria.
