Fully understanding that an International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-bantamweight title challenge might only take place next year, Sikho ‘Sequence’ Nqothole has maintained that he will keep himself busy by sweating buckets at the gym.
Nqothole flew into the number one position in the IBF junior-bantamweight ratings after he defeated Briton, Charlie Edwards, via a unanimous decision in London almost four months ago.
Currently, Australian, Andrew Moloney, is the reigning IBF junior-bantamweight champion after he dethroned Willibaldo Garcia Perez from Mexico in June.
“I have heard that I might only get a chance to fight for the world title next year. I will remain at the gym and continue training very hard to maintain my fitness,” Nqothole remarked.
Nqothole from Mthatha in the Eastern Cape is not only rated by the IBF. He is also rated 10th by the World Boxing Council (WBC) and is eighth in the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) ratings. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
