Azinga ‘Golden Boy’ Fuzile’s next fight, which is a world title contest against Japanese boxer Kenichi Ogawa, is definitely not going to be held in South Africa.

This was confirmed to Ink Sport by Rumble Africa Promotions (RAP) chairman Teris Ntutu on Thursday.

Fuzile and Ogawa are scheduled to meet in a vacant International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-lightweight title fight.

“We are trying our best here. We are almost certain that the fight is going to be held overseas,” Ntutu confirmed.

“We are looking at a few options, which are going to be good for our boxer. The most comfortable venue is where we were the last time. We’re hoping to go back to Las Vegas, but nothing has been finalised yet. In a matter of days we shall be getting something concrete.”

The 25-year-old Fuzile stopped British boxer Martin Ward at the Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas, United States, in May.

Initially, 33-year-old Ogawa was pencilled to face former International Boxing Organisation (IBO) junior-lightweight champion Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov from Tajikistan.

Their fight, which was set for Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) last month, got postponed owing to Rakhimov’s injury.

Seeing that there was no certainty regarding Rakhimov’s recovery, the IBF ordered Fuzile to clash against Ogawa.
