Trailblazer Siya Vabaza-Booi was a recipient of the Steve Tshwete Lifetime Achievement Award at the 19th South African Sport Awards held at Sun City in Rustenburg, North West, on Sunday evening.
The recognition honoured KuGompo-born Vabaza-Booi for her dedicated service and valuable contribution to South African boxing over the years.
Vabaza-Booi served as both a judge and a referee for more than three decades before making history as she became the first female Boxing South Africa (BSA) provincial manager in June 2024.
The award-winning former Eastern Cape BSA provincial manager has also served as a World Boxing Federation (WBF) supervisor.
