Things seem to be falling into place for former South African junior-bantamweight champion, Siphosethu Mvula, as he will be fighting for the second time this year after being inactive for more than three years.
Mvula has accepted an opportunity to face off against World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Africa featherweight champion, Marthin de Porres Mbwangungu Mukungu, in a tournament promoted by Nestor Tobias’ Sunshine Boxing Promotions in Rundu, Namibia, on Saturday, 17 October.
“Mvula has accepted a fight in Namibia against Mukungu and we have already signed the contract. This WBO Africa title fight is going to take place on the 17th of October,” Mvula’s manager, Andile Mshumpela, confirmed.
“Already, we have watched Mukungu’s videos. He’s a tough boxer, a knockout specialist. Be that as it may, I’ve got no fear for Mvula because he thrives on fighting against such boxers. In his last fight, he fought against Bandile Daniels and he stopped him. We are going to Namibia and we will take the belt.”
Meanwhile, former IBF Youth featherweight champion, Ishmaeel ‘King K’ Kadri, will fight in the same bill as he will challenge Namibian Mateus Heita for the WBO Africa featherweight crown.
Unbeaten Kadri has a professional record of 10 victories with four knockouts and a draw. On the other hand, rated 13th by the WBO, Heita has 15 wins, 10 stoppages and a a loss. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
